Feeling ‘hygge’ in the Cocoa Tree
Tomorrow is the first day of autumn and what better time to celebrate Britain’s latest craze: hygge.
This trend is something the Cocoa Tree Café can certainly get on board with, because the café is already the epitome of ‘hygge’ (pronounced hue-gah). It’s a Danish word that implies a ‘cosy’ lifestyle, making places more homely and people happier. The hygge phenomenon basically embraces all that we stand for: a comfortable, charming, warm space; a place to meet friends over a cup of hot chocolate; a log burner to curl up next to; shelter from a blustery day; Belgian waffles; warming soup; chocolates with a wee dram inside… Hygge is us to a T.
According to The Guardian (and many, many other publications that are all jumping on the band-wagon, including this guide to embracing hygge the Scottish way), the whole country will soon be enjoying a hygge lifestyle – by Christmas there will be books galore celebrating the notion.
So what are you waiting for – grab a novel, put on your autumnal woollies and head over to the Cocoa Tree for some good, old fashioned, hygge joy.
