Guess what - Turtles have been spotted in Pittenweem...
Turtles in Pittenweem

 ...of the chocolate kind!

Firstly, we would proudly like to introduce our Mango ganache turtles who swam ashore recently to the East Neuk. The beautiful sands along the Coastal path are defiantly worth a visit if you haven't been before.

Over the past couple of weeks we have been busy creating some new chocolates in preparation for Easter. If your in the East Neuk area this weekend, come and see the Turtles along with a selection of our new chocolates at the Bowhouse market.

Don't forget the cafe is open everyday from 10-6pm, why not treat your mum to one of our Hot Chocolates this Mothers day...

Look forward to seeing you there

Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas from the Cocoa Tree!

The Cocoa Tree would all like to wish our patrons, whether near or far, a Merry Christmas!

The café and shop will be taking a wee break on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day, but for the rest of the holiday our doors will be open to welcome you in from the cold – from 10am to 6pm, every day.

Have a very Merry Christmas, one and all!

Have you tried…?

Have you tried… our luxury Orange & Allspice hot chocolate? It’s known around here as ‘Christmas in a cup’ and so is the perfect choice when you’re visiting the Cocoa Tree Café in the depths of winter. Snuggle on our sofa with a cup in front of our log burner, with cinnamon scenting the air, and you’ll be full of that comforting hygge feeling before you know it!

A carefully blended mix of dark orange chocolate, with a hint of allspice to add a wintry twist, the packs we sell in the shop are an ideal stocking filler for any chocolate lover too.

And why not pair the hot chocolate with one of our gifts to make an extra-special present? Our half-glazed Crail Pottery mugs and wooden molinillos from Ben Silk Woodwork (his Scottish take on Mexico’s traditional hot-chocolate frother) are great additions, both from local businesses.

Enjoy your Christmas shopping!

Bowhouse Weekend

Back in the more summery months, the Balcaskie Estate – a working estate at the heart of the East Neuk of Fife – opened an exciting new venue local to Pittenweem. Located on the A917 between St Monans and Elie, the vast converted barn now known as ‘Bowhouse’ is playing host to occasional makers markets throughout the year.

The Food Markets so far have been a huge success, attracting thousands of people from around Fife to sample food, drink and produce from the local area. The hand-crafted gift stalls are a big draw too.

Now, ahead of Christmas, Bowhouse will open its doors once again – this weekend – this time for a foodie Christmas Market. We’ll be there with bells on, serving up our luxurious hot chocolates and gluten-free chocolate brownies. We’ll also have our hot chocolate packs and various artisan chocolates to cover all your Christmas-gift needs.

Hope to see you there!

Is Dark Chocolate Really That Good For You?

Type that question into Google and you’re bound to come up with a ludicrous number of results, some claiming that dark chocolate is the best thing since antioxidants were discovered, others claiming that it’s not to be trusted and that milk chocolate is far better for your skin, wellbeing and general happiness. But what are the facts?

A short while ago, Jen Miller got in touch with us to share her thoughts on the health benefits of dark chocolate. We aren’t promoting anything that’s discussed on external blogs, but if you’d like to take a look at ‘Jen Reviews’ 14 Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate to see what you think, you can find the article here: It’s quite a read for any chocolate lover!
